On arrogance
(for DL)
A fragile leaf holding on
Against a winter's storm
A rose petal gently unfurling;
I'd like to compare you to botany
But your bottom is simply too much for me.
A gale that slaps the shore
Bringing mist, and the rumbling thunder
Could your temper be if I were to live in the clouds—
But out loud, just a whisper confounds.
I could draw you in metaphors of light and of color
Leaving only a crimson desire
I would swathe you in words about beauty, and nature
You're a boat- no, a deer - no, a lift of the breeze—
But I require no more than the basest of means
For the basest of deeds, and the simplest of needs
That suffer no decoration, no frills, noisy tulle
that are best put directly, no fuss and no fluster
And less pompously stated, take courage to muster
I find "I want you" will do.
